Complete Kanban Resource
|
INTRODUCTION
The president of RTG, Raymond S. Louis, has authored
numerous books on kanban based upon his hands-on
implementation experience. His cutting edge work on
kanban and supply chain systems has been published in a
multitude of languages which include English, German,
Spanish, and Russian spanning a period of well over 25
years. He created and implemented one of the first fully
automated kanban system in the United States employing
MRP & MRPII data base that tied in work cells and the
supply base electronically over 25 years ago. He was in
the forefront to recognize, develop, implement, and
author work on automated kanban methodologies that take
non linear demand into consideration when calculating
kanban lot sizes since most companies cannot achieve a
Toyota style smooth demand pattern. His kanban
implementation experience to countless of industries is
demonstrated in his recent book: Custom Kanban:
Designing the System to Meet the Needs of Your
Environment, 2006, Publisher Productivity Press. His
work in this area has paved the way in understanding
that no two kanban systems are identical and must be
designed by first understanding the environmental
factors of the business that kanban will be operating in
and to match the selection of kanban techniques to those
environmental factors. This selection process of kanban
techniques creates a kanban system that is tailored to
meet the needs of the specific environment. RTG also
understands that not all part numbers can or should be
placed on kanban and has developed, based upon extensive
implementation experience, a component profile matrix in
determining the most effective replenishment method
(MRP, kanban, broadcast, vendor managed inventory) for
any given part number. RTG's work in this area was
published by APICS in Oct/2009. Raymond S. Louis also
pioneered and continues to enhance patented assessment
software which utilizes the client's historical usage or
forward projection of demand for each part number and
emulates kanban operating in that environment. The end
result is that RTG can determine the degree of inventory
reduction that can be expected and which part numbers
are candidates for kanban which is 100% mathematically
backed. This software employs a patented "Step Logic"
method in determining kanban lot sizes to handle non
linear demand patterns and averts the employment of
statistics which assumes a normal distribution curve
which can lead to inaccurate assumptions when applied to
the wrong environments. RTG in summation has, and
continues to lead the industry in the teaching,
assessment, design, and implementation of kanban.
OUR
CLIENTS
In the kanban, lean manufacturing, and lean office
consulting arena, our clients range in size from $12
Million to $10 Billion a year, which includes some of
the world’s largest manufacturers and distribution
centers in the world. We have designed and implemented
automated kanban systems, manual kanban systems, and
rectified major issues with existing MRP, order point,
and kanban systems.
